What's in a Name?

Our husbands got into the name game with us.  They came up with so many funny names that made no sense at all and were not right for a baby business.

Then THE NAME ... Lemonade Couture.

You see behind every creative business is THE NAME.

My daughter Heather has always enjoyed working. There were the summers she rode the city bus downtown to work as a waitress in a volunteer tea room long before she was old enough to have a real job or drive. Then there were the many babysitting jobs.

But the most successful of all of Heather's ventures was her lemonade stand.
She made wonderful signs, ventured into food offerings in addition to her lemonade, and set up a regular table in front of our house. Thirty years ago, she could bring in $70 a day in lemonade sales. How she made so much in a day, we couldn't figure out. She always said it was her baked apple specialty that drove up sales.

I knew, even then, that sales were in her future. Lemonade to Couture ... the perfect transition for a born entrepreneur. The perfect name for a business: Lemonade Couture.
